Washing the feet of Jesus (6 April)

This week we have another gospel that we know so well (from John, chapter 12). The story of Mary anointing Jesus’ feet with costly oil and drying them with her hair. It is a story of an intimate action that takes place in public. At a dinner, no less. This action of washing prefigures Jesus’ action of washing the disciples’ feet. I look forward to looking into this story in depth in my sermon.

I have to say it has been a joy to be taking a deep-dive into theological questions in our Lenten study groups. Taking time out to read and wonder isn’t about having all the answers, it is about sharing our thoughts and experiences.

Easter is rapidly approaching, and I look forward to sharing the Holy Week liturgies with you.
